Last week, Sergeant Tony Marshall gave a speech about scammers who target the elderly and other crime prevention tips to residence of a Star and Garter nursing home. His presentation was important, but what was more important were the police dogs in attendance.
All of the residence were enamored with the pups. The real magic happened when the dogs went to visit all of the patients who were unable to attend the speech due to mobility issues. The star of the day was Daisy, an 11 week old puppy.
The most beautiful thing happened when officers placed Daisy in the lap of Muriel, a woman who had been in the nursing home for a few months. Muriel sat up in bed and radiated joy. She put her arms around the puppy and gave Daisy lots of loving pets.
This is remarkable because nurses say that Muriel is very quiet and doesn’t show much emotion. Her reaction was so strong that her nurse began to cry.
Sergeant Marshall said:
“I was shocked to see Muriel’s reaction and I would like to thank the Star & Garter for having me, it was a great opportunity and something I will remember for the rest of my life.”
We already know that dogs have a powerful effect on humans and this is another story that proves just how amazing that effect is.
