Kayakers Find Old Potato Sack Floating Down River With 6 Miracle Puppies Inside
Two kayakers were making their way down the Blackstone River in Massachusetts when they heard a peculiar sound. Soft whimpers seemed to be coming from an old potato sack floating along the water.
The kayakers became guardian angels when they opened the bag and, much to their horror, saw six newborn puppies huddled together inside. They were only one-week-old when they were discarded like trash.
“It’s unconscionable, you can’t imagine what’s going through my head as a police officer for 29 years, someone would do that, someone would take six fairly newborn puppies and discard them in a body of water,” said Uxbridge Police Chief Jeff Lourie.
But all six puppies are proving much stronger and more resilient than anyone could have imagined. Incredibly, they are all healthy and are currently being cared for by Uxbridge Animal Control.
The pups have been placed on a combination of dog formula/goat’s milk and probiotics, and the runt of the liter is on antibiotics.
The puppies will be available for adoption in a few months as animal lovers from all over the country are eager to provide them with loving forever homes.
Police are looking for a man on a mountain bike who may have been in the area of River Road “we assume between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.” on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Officials said whoever did this will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
