The blue whale is a highly sought creature by photographers and whale watchers alike. Given that it is the largest animal in the world and thought to be the largest animal to have ever existed. Most people spend years trying to finally catch a glimpse of these massive and majestic creatures.
Filmmaker Patrick Dykstra, captured this footage off the coast of Sri Lanka, in the Indian Ocean. The blue whale, which can grow to almost 100 feet long and weigh about 400,000 pounds, is just so magnificent. Can you imagine what it must have been like for Dykstra to swim in the water with one? This is the kind of sighting that aquatic enthusiasts dream about and it is absolutely breathtaking.
