After A Successful Operation To Remove A 46lb Tumor, This Dog Resumes A Normal Life
Gandhi once said, “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” If we take that maxim to be true, the story of an eight-year-old Golden Retriever named Henry shows this nation at its worst and at its best.
Henry was found by local police in Newport Beach, apparently abandoned by his previous owners. He was hungry and lonely, and, to make matters worse, he had a 46-pound tumor attached to his side. Rescuers say the tumor was so big that it made him virtually immobile and he couldn’t even lift his leg up to pee. Because he had no owners to claim him, locals pitched in to help pay for the expensive surgery to remove the tumor.Luckily, Henry survived the risky procedure and is now free of the monstrous growth. Doctors are still waiting for the results of a biopsy to find out if the tumor was cancerous, but, as of now, he seems to be full of life and very playful.
Hopefully, police will soon find the people who left Henry to die. As Animal Control supervisor Valerie Shomburg says, “Whoever did this to Henry might have to answer to it.”
