Dog Found Living In Tree Is Now Happy With Her New Family
Good news! Beautiful Boo has found a forever home with animal lover Kim Stohlman!
Saturday was Boo’s first day at her new home where she cuddled with her new mom. Kim says:
“She slept for an hour by my hip and let me hold my hand on her back and side and then she stretched and rolled and woke with my hand near her tummy and didn’t fret at all.”
The pup is still shy, but loves playing with her older pup-sister Sierra and other dogs! Yay, Boo! We’re so happy for you! You can follow Boo’s journey to happiness on her new Facebook page.
A tiny, adorable, very nervous dog was recently found living in a tree, Winnie-the-Pooh-style.
Shirley Zindler, an animal control officer in Sonoma County, California, and her team rescued the “generic Chihuahua” from her refuge inside the knothole of a tree.
The author of The Secret Life of Dog Catchers and her team coaxed the pup out of her hiding place after several hours. The poor pup is under a year old, and sadly, had given birth to puppies who did not survive, further traumatizing her.
Another rescuer named her “Boo” after Boo Radley, the reclusive character in To Kill a Mockingbird. In the classic novel, Boo Radley left gifts inside a tree knot for the child protagonists. Canine Boo is truly a gift!
She’s still very scared around humans, and will need a lot of rehabilitation and ruv to be able to trust again. Until she finds her furever home*, she’ll stay with Zindler and her four pups.
*I enthusiastically volunteer.
