The Delta Honor Guard is a select group of Delta Airlines employees and luggage handlers. This particular Delta Honor Guard group in the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta gathered on the tarmac for a soldier and his dog who had been killed in action. The Delta Honor Guard have a ceremony for their caskets as they are transferred to another plane. This emotional moment is viewed by bystanders watching from the terminal windows.
The second, smaller coffin is for the soldier’s dog that was specifically trained to detect IEDs. Imagine what it would be like to be part of the Delta Honor Guard and have to perform a couple of these ceremonies every week.
