She noticed this old woman standing in rain on the side of the road looking confused…when she asked her where she was heading to? She simply broke down and said this (thank you, Melissa, for sharing your story via Facebook).
Two weeks ago today 8th March while driving back from our son’s football practice around 6:30 pm dark and raining, we could see an old lady at the side of the road looking wet and confused!
We stopped and offered our assistance,
She was very grateful and explained she wasn’t sure how to get home,
We helped her into the car and assured her we would get her home safely,
While driving her home around 2 miles,
We chatted and she told me she had been down to pay a debt of $1000 which she owes for her care bill,
I asked if a family member could have done this for her!!!
I have no children she said, I was ill as a young lady and due to this she was not able to conceive a baby,
I did have a brother but he died 10 years ago now, as did my dear husband
I am now 93 years old and have no one, not even a friend!!!
My heart sank,
I promised her that I would be her friend!
And for sure I kept to my word,
I visited with flowers and hot fresh cooked dinners over the next couple of days and I became her friend. I’ve had a great time chatting up with her & sharing experiences.
One of the greatest gifts you can bestow upon another is kindness. If someone is in need, lend them a helping hand. Do not wait for a thank you. True kindness lies within the act of giving without the expectation of something in return.
