The Longest Resident In This Shelter Poses For Selfies To Help Find A Forever Home
Abby Rose is determined to make the best out of a terrible situation. Abby has been waiting for a family longer than any other dog at the Delaware County SPCA, and for this sweetheart of a Pittie, no one’s really sure why that is.
It seems that the shelter has caught the selfie bug, and they’ve started a creative new challenge to help get Abby Rose adopted. From their Facebook page:
‘Through Nov. 30, we invite you to take part in the Abby Rose Challenge: Find Abby Rose a Home. Here’s the deal: come in to the Adoption Center any time during our open hours (12-7 M-F, 11-6 Sat, 12-5 Sun) to meet our longest dog resident, Abby Rose, and take a selfie with her! Then post it on Facebook tagging us with the hashtag #FindAbbyRoseAHome. We’ll add the pictures to this album. The best picture will be voted on by our staff of lifesavers and the winner will receive a prize!’
Poor Abby was surrendered to the shelter when a member of her family was incarcerated. The remainder of her humans had to move to a safe, non-pet-friendly location, and there was nowhere left for her to go. The shelter calls Abby Rose a diva, a leading lady, and a soloist, and boy does she live up to the hype!
They also say she is good with other dogs when they meet on walks and around the shelter, but she should be the only dog in the home. (No cats, either.) She would also love an active family with adults and older kids. Abby’s been waiting a real long time, with no one to cuddle up with at night or take her for long, strolling walks.
