Dog Is Abandoned At Shelter Twice, Then Wealthy Heiress Puts Her On A Plane To Save Her
I absolutely love a good underdog story, especially when it involves a rescue dog getting a second chance and a forever home.
Lady’s story is a true rags-to-riches canine fairy tale. This senior lab mix walked 30 miles from the shelter where she was abandoned back to her original owner.
Sadly, her owner drove her back to the shelter and dumped her again.
Just when it seemed like Lady’s luck had run out, this pup was adopted by Helen Rich, the heiress to the Wrigley fortune.
Helen heard about Lady’s story and immediately sent her staff and a private plane from Florida to Kansas to bring her home.
“She’d already been recycled three times,” Helen said. “She needed a home, not tomorrow, not next week, but today.”
Lady is now living the good life with Helen in her beautiful 15,000-square-foot mansion in Florida. She joins almost 300 other animals, mostly rescues, on Helen’s 130-acre farm. By all accounts, Lady has settled in nicely, making all kinds of new friends with lots of new things to do, smell, and experience.
This senior girl can often be found riding around the property with Helen, who says she goes almost everywhere with her.
Helen is committed to making sure all her animals have the happy endings they deserve. She encourages other people to adopt shelter animals because they make wonderful companions. As a proud rescue mom myself, I couldn’t agree more!
